Brothers, love is a teacher, but a hard one to obtain: learning to love is hard and we pay dearly for it. It takes hard work and a long apprenticeship, for it is not just for a moment that we must learn to love, but forever.

Ash Wednesday: "Deeply Bowed Down and Full of Remorse"
The aria "Tief gebückt und voller Reue," from Bach's Cantata BWV 199, Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut (My Heart Swims in Blood), sung by mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, conducted by John Eliot Gardiner.
Yeah, as a mezzo, I have to agree. BTW, Charlotte Hellekant, in the video of "He was despisèd," is the friend of a good friend of mine -- who is also a mezzo!
I am giving up reading blogs for Lent, but I didn't want to disappear without saying good-bye. You will stay in my prayers, especially for little Jude and your mother.
I admire your resolve, Anne-Marie. Thank you so much for the heads-up and the prayers. I wish you a happy and holy Lent and a blessed Easter, and look forward to talking more after then.
MEZZOS ROCK!
