In fact, while I was culling books, I took more than a few newer books -- the kind with beautiful, glossy photos and calls for specialized ingredients -- off the cookbook shelves and elected to keep the spiral-bounds instead.<br /><br />I think I need to create some kind of system, though, which will help me to find the recipes in them that I use regularly. Right now I have to leaf through many of them to find what I'm looking for.Pentimentohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17161146891505294679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5554498168264477884.post-79433621528674195562019-08-20T08:38:52.447-04:002019-08-20T08:38:52.447-04:00I am so glad that you're writing again.

Interestingly enough, when I want to make one of these dishes, I have to get in touch with my sister, who is now keeper of the cookbook, and ask for the ingredients and all the details. The dishes themselves have been internalized as traditions; the procedures are still attached to the cookbook, and I never remember them.mrsdarwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03446744635277205867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5554498168264477884.post-64404204345606754852019-08-18T19:50:15.144-04:002019-08-18T19:50:15.144-04:00I have a few such cookbooks, and feel similarly ab...I have a few such cookbooks, and feel similarly about them. I do occasionally leaf through, certain that I will find a particular gem; and even though I rarely find a recipe I want to try, I continue to think of these collections as something more real than all the other cookbooks - certainly full of real people whom one wonders about...<br /><br />"Grandma's Waistline" -- that's a name I might borrow for one of my own unnamed creations! The spaghetti sauce recipe is wild. You make me want to look again right now at my books just to check out the names. I know well the jello recipes!GretchenJoannahttp://www.gretchenjoanna.comnoreply@blogger.com
