Brothers, love is a teacher, but a hard one to obtain: learning to love is hard and we pay dearly for it. It takes hard work and a long apprenticeship, for it is not just for a moment that we must learn to love, but forever. (Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov)

Sounds like a wise decision. I'm so glad she has you as a friend.
Still praying. And I finished The Scent of Water, and can't remember if I recommended Gilead to you. I think I have- if I haven't, go find a copy. You'll love it. It's by Marilynne Robinson. Also, when you read it, I want your feedback.
Cheers!
I think I may have Gilead around somewhere. I've been meaning to read it for a long time. Did you love the Scent of Water?
YES. It's beautiful. The three prayers keep echoing around my head.
Do find and read Gilead. The two books remind me of each other- they're both about quiet redemption, and interior faith.
Quick update: the judge appointed a law guardian for my friend's child! Praise God! Thank you for continuing to pray for this vulnerable family.
