Advent Novena 2011

Dear all, I will be praying the Advent Novena again this year, and I will gladly add your intentions to my already-scheduled ones.

If you have special intentions you would like to tack onto the list, please post them in the combox, and I will pray for them.

I would greatly appreciate prayers for my youngest son who is recovery from surgery. He had a tethered spinal cord and a split in the cord that were both repaired last week. He's recovering well but must stay laying down for the next 10 days. Kinda hard for a 7 yr old boy.

Also, I feel a bit bashful asking for this for prayer, BUT, the IRS has been taking their own sweet time (like almost 9 months now) reviewing our adoption tax credit. We'd love to be able to pay our debt off before Christmas so we don't go into that joyous time with it hanging over our heads.

Thanks and many blessings!

If you could add our money/work situation to your novena I'd really appreciate it. Every other stress we have feels like it would be so much more manageable if that were different, though some of the other stresses contribute to why it's hard to improve the money/work situation... Still praying for your intentions, though it's been ages since I did any kind of novena.

Done, Ex-New Yorker!

Just prayed for you guys on day 1 of the novena. Incidentally, I prayed this novena one year for a close family member who, with his wife, had been trying to conceive unsuccessfully for two years. I kid you not, they conceived on Christmas day, the day after the novena ended, and had a daughter the following year.

May God hear and answer all our petitions, and, in the meantime, may we live in the spirit of Padre Pio, who said, "Pray, hope, and don't worry." : )

Our favorite authentically NY pizza place around here (owned by an Italian who passed through Brooklyn first) has a picture of Padre Pio on display, as well as a crucifix, and pictures of Popes JPII and BXVI. I don't ever remember seeing that kind of thing in an actual NY pizza place -- just those choking signs with the skeletal fish (maybe I missed the St. Blaise items?). Hope this is not too tangential, it honestly comes from genuine thoughts about religion and prayer and novenas. :) I prayed a Padre Pio novena in 2007. I think it might have been one of those with an intention was decisively answered but in a way I wasn't all that open to when it actually first happened.

Could you pray for my family, especially my extended one? We have divorces, infertility, unemployment, teenage rebels, manic depression, alcoholism and a few other problems, but all in all, we are a happy faithful bunch. Thank you.

Yes, JMB, absolutely. I just added you and your family to the list.

Is it too late for you to add someone? It is someone who asked me recently to keep her in her prayers but didn't specify the current problem(s) apparently upsetting her a lot. I know she's been through a lot with her family over the years and is aware that her ability to become a mother is jeopardized as time passes without her finding someone to settle down with -- she specifically asked for prayers about that a couple of years ago, and I don't see that the situation's changed. I like the idea of being able to do more for her so figured I'd ask!

I just added her to the prayer list as "Ex-New Yorker's Friend."

Please pray for my husband and I to conceive and carry to term. Thank you and God bless.

P.S. I finally drew saints for you & your sons.

Absolutely, Ranter -- writing you on my list. And I will pray especially for this intention, as I've been there.

The Boss knows what I want, and He knows what I need; I just want to join in for myself, and for others who need this group effort.

You're on the list, Tubbs.
