Wild Mountain Thyme

As I've written here before, I have mixed feelings about the artistry of Joan Baez, but this is lovely and refreshing on a scorching day like today. Enjoy.

Did I mention this a few weeks ago when we were talking about Baez, and I said my favorite album of hers is Farewell Angelina? Well, anyway, this is one of the songs that make it so. Lovely.

Ever heard Van Morrison's version? Also lovely in a totally different way.

Believe it or not, Van Morrison's version, from an obscure album that I can't remember the name of right now, is the first version of the song I ever heard! And yes, it is very, very fine.

Hard Nose the Highway. Off-putting (to me) title, ugly cover art, and disappointing music--except for that one track.

I recall very little of this album except for the ugly cover art, the first song ("Snow in San Jacinto," right?), and another I liked, "Warm Love." But I do remember "Wild Mountain Thyme" was the last track, and it was wonderful.
