Happy Feast Day

In a garden shady this holy lady
With reverent cadence and subtle psalm,
Like a black swan as death came on
Poured forth her song in perfect calm:
And by ocean's margin this innocent virgin
Constructed an organ to enlarge her prayer,
And notes tremendous from her great engine
Thundered out on the Roman air. . . .

Blessed Cecilia, appear in visions
To all musicians, appear and inspire:
Translated Daughter, come down and startle
Composing mortals with immortal fire.

I wanted to leave a prayer request for you and all your readers- our good friend (and younger son's godfather) has been hospitalized and requires major aortic surgery. His wife is asking for as many people praying as possible.

His name is David and he's 27.

Thank you so much. He's had a host of health problems over the years, but this one is particularly awful and dangerous. They're Catholic converts- our sponsors, actually (it's amazing how effective it is to hear a friend's voice on the phone every other week asking if you've converted yet) and incredibly beautiful, thoughtful, pious people.

So. Thanks you again.
