I got this book out of the library, and it soon moved across to the list of books that I want to own. My son loves it, and he makes up his own songs about blessing the Lord, based on the song that Saint Francis sings in the book. I just saw that

Tomie DePaola has dedicated
The Song of Francis to the nuns of the
Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis in Connecticut, a wonderful place; I went on retreat there a few years ago, and recently performed in a concert series sponsored by a lay Benedictine foundation that is affiliated with the abbey.

Lovely! I haven't seen this one. My kids have loved his other books, including an earlier one about Saint Francis, whose title I can't quite remember: The Poor Man of God? The Beggar of God? Anyway, I'm sure you know it. I'll have to look for this one for sure.
It just came out in 2009. I have one called The Clown of God; I think the other St. Francis is The Poor Man of Assisi (?). I also ordered a book of his used, called The Holy Twins, about SS. Benedict and Scholastica, which I'm looking forward to reading.
We are collecting every Tomie De Paola book we can find; Nat loves The Clown of God and The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush.
I'll look for the St. Francis one.
